Quartz Countertops from slab yard to sink hookup
Quartz is engineered, which means it is non-porous, never needs sealing and is consistent from slab to slab. If you want to know exactly what you are getting from a sample, quartz is the material that delivers it.
It is not indestructible. Quartz resins discolor under sustained heat, so a trivet is not optional next to a range, and it does not like being used as a cutting board any more than granite does.

FAQ
Questions on quartz countertops, answered
Quartz or granite?
Quartz for a non-porous surface that needs no sealing, a consistent pattern, and a wide range of light colors; granite for a natural stone with real depth, more heat resistance, and a look that no two slabs share. Quartz is the more practical kitchen surface for most households; granite is the one people fall in love with at the yard. Both are cut and fitted the same way.
Does quartz stain or scratch?
It resists both far better than natural stone — it is non-porous, so wine and oil wipe off, and it is hard. It is not indestructible: a hot pan straight from the oven can mark it, and a knife used directly on it will eventually scratch. A trivet and a board are the two habits that keep it looking new.
