Edges, Sinks & Cutouts from slab yard to sink hookup
The undermount reveal is the detail that separates good fabrication from adequate. A positive, negative or zero reveal is a deliberate choice, and an uneven one is the first thing you notice every time you use the sink.
Farmhouse sinks need the cabinet modified and supported before the top goes on. That is joinery work that happens before templating, and it belongs in the plan rather than being discovered on install day.

FAQ
Questions on edges, sinks & cutouts, answered
What edge profile should I choose?
A simple eased or pencil edge for a modern kitchen and for quartz, where a plain edge shows the material best; a bevel or a bullnose for a traditional one; ogee and other decorative edges for a look that suits the cabinetry. Thicker mitered edges make a slab look substantial. The edge is cut in the shop, and the profile is chosen from a sample rather than a name.
Undermount or drop-in sink?
Undermount for a clean counter you can wipe straight into the sink, and it is what most stone counters get. Drop-in for a laminate counter or a budget job. With an undermount the sink is fitted to the cutout in the shop and the reveal — how much of the sink rim shows — is chosen; the faucet holes are drilled at the same time.
